Free will feels like a given; a fundamental aspect of human existence. But what if every thought, every choice, and every movement is inevitably shaped by prior events?
Origins of Thought is an immersive VR essay that places the user in a contemplative space, where they are confronted with the inescapable chain of cause and effect. Rather than imposing explicit answers, the experience invites interpretation, reflection, and dialogue about the limits of free will.

How can the exploration of Mars help us better appreciate Earth? TerraNova is a speculative concept set in the futuristic city of New Canterbury (2070), where a fictional company tries to convince users to purchase a ticket to Mars. But as people are invited to leave the planet behind, they’re confronted with what they would lose; Earth’s irreplaceable nature.
The project investigates how immersive media like VR and AR, combined with the psychological “overview effect,” can raise awareness about climate change and shift present bias towards long-term thinking.

Minor: Development for Visual Storytelling
- Minor
- VFX
- Animation
- Storytelling
During my minor period, I chose to follow a course at AKV Sint Joost organized by Frank Verheggen and Albert 't Hooft: Development for Visual Storytelling. Throughout this minor, I learned a lot about visual storytelling and perfected my design skills.
Along with others, I went through three phases: two phases of six weeks where we created pitch bibles for two different stories, and one phase of eight weeks where a pitch bible was developed into an animation.

Tardigrade Experiment
- Embodied Experience
- VR
- Storytelling
- Biology
The objective of this project was to provide an immersive experience that simulates the perspective of a tardigrade, a micro-animal that is capable of surviving in the harshest of environments.
To bring this micro-world to life, my team and I undertook several experiments to find the most effective methods of simulating the tardigrade's unique senses and abilities. The end result was a multi-sensory VR experience.

In Deep Water
- Game Demo
- Climate
The Avans Expertise Centre for Technical Innovation (ETI), which focuses on realizing innovative technologies for a sustainable world, commissioned the development of a game set in a futuristic city. The city selected for the game was Singapore due to its potential for sustainability, viability, and resilience, as well as its vulnerability to natural disasters.
However, one of the most pressing challenges the city faces is a growing water shortage. This was chosen as the central theme of the game's story.

A Look Inside the Past

- History
The universe is vast and mysterious, and because light travels at a constant speed of 299,792,458 meters per second, looking at the night sky is like looking into the past. Celestial objects appear as they were years ago, like Proxima Centauri B, which we see as it was four years ago, since its light takes that long to reach Earth.
But what if we could look even further back? If a giant mirror were placed in space and we had a powerful enough telescope, we could see Earth's past; light would reflect and take even longer to reach us. This interactive product simulates that idea, letting users view historical moments through eyepieces that mimic a telescope.
